Marc Sampson
Founder & CEO
Mr. Sampson founded Industry People Group Inc. and its first online job board MEP Jobs in January 1997. His company was the first organization specifically designed to serve the MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) industry. Sampson has managed the company’s growth profitably since inception, including the industry and economic slowdown post 2001 and 2008.
Today he directs all strategic growth initiatives of the firm, including business development. He has written articles in major industry trade publications and has been quoted in the NY Times. Prior to founding the Industry People Group, Mr. Sampson was the national field director for the United Service Alliance, a nationwide HVACR industry training and consulting group.
President and COO
John von Harz is President and Chief Operating Officer at MEP Jobs. Mr. von Harz has overall operational responsibility for MEP Jobs and also leads corporate strategy and shareholder governance. Mr. von Harz previously worked for Kite Networks, a network operator, where he held the position of Vice President of Market Development. He also served on the Advisory Board of MobilePro Corp., Kite’s parent. Prior to Kite, Mr. von Harz was the Vice President of Investors Management Group, an institutional investment advisor, and President of JVH Solutions LLC, a private equity and business development advisory firm. Mr. von Harz has served on the Board of Directors for Speedcom Wireless and the Wireless Communications Association International.
EVP Business Development
Mr. May joined the INDUSTRY People Group in 1999. Prior to becoming the EVP of Business Development, he held the role of Account Manager, Channel Manager and VP of Sales. Mr. May was instrumental in building and launchingBirdDogjobs and the AGC of Iowa Career Center. Specifically our Candidate Acquisition and Management System that helps Public Employers document their “Good Faith” efforts for recruitment and recruitment advertising. Bryan has on-going relationships with many people at the State Department of Transportation, US DOL and FHWA. He is our resident expert on everything revolving around Diversity Outreach, Applicant Collection, Tracking and Reporting (Contractor Affirmative Action and Compliance), for the FHWA and OFCCP. Prior to joining IPG, Mr. May was responsible for online training solutions for Fortune 1000 corporations at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers. He also held supervisory positions with PepsiCo, Inc and APAC Teleservices. Mr. May is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a graduate from the University of Iowa.
VP of Information Technology
With almost 19 years of experience in the IT industry, Mr. Samuelson manages all computer, telephone, network, and security systems used by Industry People Group. He has experience and skills in VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, Style Sheets, and Visual Studio.NET. Mr. Samuelson has been involved in all iterations of the IPG sites developed over the past 11 years and has also been involved in implementing various technology projects dealing with SalesLogix, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Exchange.
VP of Sales
Tom began his career with BirdDog back in 1997 as our first salesperson. He has worked with thousands of employers in the Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure and Facilities industries in addressing their staffing needs. Tom believes that every employer can and should have a strategy that gives them the best personnel available for their company. Tom is responsible for ensuring that all of our advisors take personal ownership of their clients and prospects to ensure that we are serving their best interests in every situation. When Tom is not working with his team you will likely find him at a Des Moines Buccaneers Hockey game, Iowa Barnstormers Arena Football event, or working around his house. Tom is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa.
Karen Enos joined our team at Industry People Group Inc. in 2007. Karen came from a HVAC Manufacturer’s Representative, and uses her knowledge of the industry to help our customers get the most out of their online services. Karen provides support and training to employers, jobseekers, and staff to help ensure that they are informed about what is going to yield the best results to achieve individual success.
